The comment about the curfew being at 10pm cos that is when disease doesn’t spread speaks very differently now haha.

hahaha I did get a bit of a kick out of the fact that so many people discovered Merlin during the pandemic, and that the first season – and quite a lot of later seasons – is very disease heavy… oops lol

So I went to see them filming after the first year. In the very first episode, the banquet hall and the dungeon scenes were at Penshurst Place in England. After that, the great hall and banquet hall were at Pierrefonds. The castle outdoor scenes are all at Pierrefonds and you would be surprised at how much of the forest scenes are also at Pierrefonds. The Griffin statue area, the long thin tall hallway, the door entrance to the dragon’s cave, and some stairs are also at Pierrefonds. The jousting scenes were in the forest above Pierrefonds, the sword fighting scenes are done in the car park there, too.
They tended to do blocks of Pierrefonds filming, one in March, one in June, and one in Sept. The last year, they only did 2 blocks.

If you want me to tell you, I’m happy to do so, tough on whats app, not here, where anyone may innocently read the comment sections and get massively spoiled for important plot stuff hahaha hit me up if you want to know!!
Yes, both Morgana (Katie) and Merlin (Colin) are Irish. I never actually noticed her accent slipping, but then I am the WORST with accents, so good catch there! Also Gwain, when he shows up, he’s also Irish. Many many pretty Irish people in this program 😀
oh god, poor Dragon… I have no idea what he gets up to all day long!
I totally get him winding merlin up, but at the same time, I’d think he’d be nicer to Merlin, so merlin would come and talk to him more often and maybe bring him treats and toys!!

I spent the entire episode trying to remember the name of the actress playing the witch. All I could think off was her of Eastenders. Why was she doing what she was doing? Does it have something to do with Uther? I can vaguely remember something about magic being used against his family? His wife? It’s been too long for me to remember. Uther can be pretty scary in a kill everyone way. He’s very fast to sentence people to die. Poor Merlin, now everyone thinks he’s in love with Gwen. Is the actress playing Morgana Irish? Sometimes it sounds like she has an accent. I’m trying to keep an open mind about her this time but I really didn’t like her the first time I watched the show. Question, what does the dragon do all day to entertain himself while chained up? He must get so bored, no wonder he enjoys winding Merlin up. 😁 I think this was my least fave ep out of the 3 so far.
