Do you think the crystals could be a metaphor for dawn joining the cast? Dawn tries to add an extra crystal to the tower and it collapses?

oooooh. add a new element to a perfectly balanced existing group that’s worked wonderfully well for years, and it all goes to pieces…? ouch!
